Sometimes, when things get too loud or too scary, your brain turns the volume knob all the way down so it doesn’t have to hear anything at all. It’s like putting on giant earmuffs. While this helps you not feel the “scary” stuff, it also stops you from hearing the happy music and the birds singing. To feel the “happy” again, we have to gently learn how to take the earmuffs off.
Why This Happens: This shutdown is often a result of “Repression,” where your subconscious hides a memory or feeling that was once too much to handle. To save your “engine” from the effort of dealing with old pain, your body creates a “numb” state as a survival shortcut. This “cognitive overload” makes your mental room feel dark and empty, even when there is plenty of life around you.
How to Fix It: Imagine your body is a glass jar filled with a thick, grey liquid that represents the “numbness”. Visualize that liquid draining away through your toes and being replaced by a bright, warm white light that brings your feelings back to life.
Context : John Gruzelier found that the right side of the brain possesses a natural aptitude for dreamlike perceptions and feelings. When we are stuck in “left-brain” logic to survive, we lose touch with these emotions. By using “Creative Hypno-Healing,” we can re-activate our “Higher Self” and allow our natural feelings to flow freely again.
